Sweet Cream Cheese Bundles

There is a restaurant that we go to that makes these delicious little bundles of dough that are filled with a sweetened cream cheese.  It's a very simple dessert and I couldn't wait to try making them at home.  I started with puff pastry, filled it with cream cheese and into the oven they went until golden brown.  They are divine and they taste pretty close to the ones at the restaurant I'm excited that I can now make them at home...and the kids are too!

Ingredients are as follows:

1 box (2 sheets) of puff pastry, thawed
8 oz. cream cheese, softened
1 C powdered sugar
1 Tbsp. cream (heavy cream, half-n-half or milk)
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees; spray 2 cookie sheets with non-stick cooking spray.

Cream together the cream cheese, powdered sugar, cream and vanilla; set aside.

Unfold one sheet of puff pastry onto a lightly floured surface.

Cut dough into 9 equal squares.

Place a spoonful of the cream cheese mixture in the center of the squares.

Bring up two sides of the dough and crimp together.

Repeat with the other two sides.

Make sure all the sides are crimped together.

Continue with the remaining squares and place onto a cookie sheet.  Repeat the process with the second sheet of puff pastry and cream cheese mixture; place onto another cookie sheet.

Bake one tray for 15-18 minutes; until lightly golden brown.  Remove from oven, place bundles on a wire rack and allow to cool.  Repeat with the second tray.

Take a bite and enjoy!

  5. One addition I would make is to use a little egg wash to keep the sides together and on top to give it a nice golden brown exterior

  9. Yum! I'm thinking a spoonful of canned pie filling such as cherry or triple-berry dolloped over the tops would be delish too!

  15. I just made these and they are simple and fabulous!! One tip would be to moisten the pastry sheet just a tad to get it to stay together when cooking. Mine opened up when cooking, they were devoured so fast no one cared! I had a bit of leftover cream cheese mixture which will be perfect to dip fresh fruit into. Thank you so much for this recipe had to make copies for everyone here that tried it!
