On the weekends our life slows down a little and I love to make breakfast for all of us. We have dinner every night, but there is something about a big beautiful breakfast in the morning. It's such a refreshing way to start the day. As much as I love having the breakfast, sometimes the preparation can be daunting! That's why I love making recipes that don't require a lot of time. I looked into the fridge, saw the package of biscuits and decided to make biscuit donuts. These are so simple, you can fill them with anything you like, they don't take a lot of time to make, and they taste delicious...the perfect breakfast treat!
Ingredients are as follows:
1 (16.3 ounce) can of large/grand refrigerated biscuits
8 ounces cream cheese
1/2 C powdered sugar
1 tsp.vanilla
1/3 C strawberry preserves
1 1/2 C powdered sugar
6 Tbsp. butter
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees; grease a large cookie sheet.
Cream together the cream cheese, powdered sugar and vanilla; set aside.
Remove biscuits from the package. Take a knife and carefully make a hole in the center of each. Stick your finger inside and make the hole bigger.
Place one teaspoon of preserves in the bottom, then a large spoonful of the cream cheese mixture, then another teaspoon of preserves on top.
Carefully crimp the hole shut until it's completely sealed.
Flatten them out a little and place onto the cookie sheet. Continue with remaining biscuits.
Bake for 10-12 minutes; until golden brown. Let them cool on the pan.
In one bowl place the powdered sugar; in another bowl melt the butter.
Brush some melted butter all over the donut.
Then place it in the powdered sugar and coat it completely.
Continue with remaining donuts.
Take a bite and enjoy!
Those look great! I've never tried biscuit doughnuts but they sound tasty :)
