Caramel Apple Dumpling Dessert

flourmewithlove.com

My family loves apple dumplings, but sometimes it gets to be a pain making all of them.  I came up with a way to enjoy all the flavors without all the work.  I also wanted the recipe to be quick and easy so I decided to use canned crescent rolls.  This dessert tastes exactly like individual apple dumplings, but you'll be able to enjoy them in no time at all!

 Ingredients are as follows:

4 apples peeled, cored and sliced
2 (8 ounce package) crescent rolls
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 Tbsp. flour
2 Tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla

1/2 C butter
1/2 C brown sugar
6 ounces lemon-lime soda

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees; grease an 8 x 11 inch baking dish.

Unroll one package of crescent rolls and place them into the bottom of the pan.

Take the apples and mix them with the cinnamon, flour, sugar and vanilla.

Place the apples onto the crescent rolls.

Unroll the other package of crescent rolls and place on top of the apples.

Place the butter and brown sugar into a medium saucepan, bring to a boil and boil a minute or two until it starts to thicken.

Pour this on top of the uncooked dessert.

Pour the soda on top of the caramel.

Bake for 35-40 minutes.  Allow to cool in the pan for 15 minutes.

Slice, serve and enjoy!

  2. I've made a version of this dessert, been making it for years for my kids, grandkids and friends... my son-in-laws favorite. Very easy to make, I use vanilla bean paste, Mt. Dew soda, Vietnamese cinnamon, crasins, and nuts.... they flip for it served with vanilla bean ice cream
