Happy holidays to you all! Chocolate Yule Log is a quick and simple dessert that looks lovely! This recipe can be made in less than an hour...just in case you need a last minute dessert! The chocolate frosting on the outside is thick and fudgy while the white creamy frosting inside is silky and smooth. A perfect combination all rolled into a lightly sweetened sponge cake.
Ingredients are as follows:
4 eggs, separated
1 C sugar, divided in half
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 C flour, sifted
1/4 C cocoa, sifted
1/8 tsp. salt
White frosting:
1/4 C butter, softened
2 C powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2-3 T. cream (or milk)
Fudge Frosting:
1/4 C butter, softened
2 C powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 C cocoa
2 T. cream (or milk)
Directions:
Grease a cookie sheet or jelly roll pan. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Beat egg whites and 1/2 C sugar until stiff peaks form; set aside.
Beat egg yolks and the other 1/2 C sugar until pale yellow.
Mix in flour, cocoa and salt. Stir until combined.
Fold in the egg whites by hand.
Pour into prepared pan.
Bake in preheated oven for 12-15 minutes; until golden brown.
Let rest for five minutes then flip out onto a towel dusted with cocoa or sugar. Roll it up and set aside to cool.
Cream together the butter, powdered sugar, vanilla and cream.

Unroll the cake and evenly spread the white frosting on the inside.
Roll it back up and frost the outside with the fudge frosting.
Slice, serve and enjoy!
I've never made a chocolate Yule log but I have made a pumpkin roll. I need to make one of these next year. They're always so impressive. This one looks delicious! Thanks for sharing on Sweet Indulgences Sunday.
