I've never heard of poppyseed filling. Is it like a paste? I can buy poppyseeds by the bucketload here but sadly no filling. :(
ReplyDeleteThis cake looks wonderful!
Hi Maureen :) It's kind of like a paste, I put a picture up top so you can see what it looks like.
DeleteMaureen..you can also google poppy seed filling recipe and just make the filling on your own. It's so easy.
DeleteWow, that looks so good!!!
ReplyDeleteOh Yum! I'm sure your Pap will adore you for making his favorite. I make an awesome poppyseed bread (almond extract...orange juice glaze - MMM!) but have never made anything with this filling either. It's gotta be good. I'll buy a can of the filling when I see it again and give this a whirl. Happy Birthday Wishes to your Dad!!

ReplyDeleteThis looks awesome!
ReplyDeleteThat looks delicious. I definitely need the picture of the Poppyseed filling. Thanks so much for sharing at Whimsy Wednesdays.
ReplyDeleteLOVE ALL YOUR RECIPES. THEY ARE EASY TO MAKE AND VERY DELICIOUS. I WAS WONDERING CAN WE USE JUST POPPYSEEDS INSTEAD OF POPPYSEED FILLING? IF YES HOW MUCH? THANKS.
ReplyDeleteI never have, but I'm sure you can. I wouldn't use more then 1 C though or it may be overpowering :)
DeleteMy mum made a great poppyseed cake using the seeds. She also used sour cream and almond flavor vanilla extract....it has always been a Christmas favorite in our family. The batter was really stiff and you had to make it with an electric mixer
DeleteSounds delicious Anna-maria!
DeleteYay
ReplyDeleteI CAN'T FIND POPPYSEED FILLING. PLEASE HELP. WHERE SHOULD I LOOK FOR IT?
ReplyDeleteI get mine at Walmart in the baking aisle :)
DeleteTHANKS.
