One of my husband's favorite dessert is Apple Pie and I make it quite often! So when I saw Slow Cooker Apple Pie in a cookbook, I knew I had to try it, however I did change the recipe to his liking. This recipe can be tossed into the slow cooker and you don't have to worry about it at all...love that! Once it was done he had one serving with whipped cream and the other one he put in a bowl with some milk. He said both were good, but he liked it better with the milk because that's how he eats his apple pie. This recipe was so simple to make and a great way to make apple pie if you're in a hurry!
Ingredients are as follows:
8 C apples (peeled, cored and sliced)
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
2 eggs (beaten)
3/4 C milk
1 Tbsp. vanilla
1 C sugar
5 Tbsp. butter (softened)
1 1/2 C biscuit baking mix (divided in half)
1/3 C brown sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
Directions:
Spray slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray.
Toss the apples, 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon and nutmeg together.
Place these into the greased slow cooker.
Whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla, sugar, 2 Tbsp. butter and 3/4 C baking mix.
Pour over the apples.
Combine brown sugar, the remaining 3/4 C baking mix and 1/2 tsp. cinnamon together; cut in the 3 Tbsp. butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Sprinkle over the apples and batter; do not stir!
Cover the top of the crock with a paper towel (this will absorb the moisture), place the lid on and cook on low for 6-7 hours (I checked mine at 6 hours and it was done). Spoon some out, top with whipped cream (or place in a bowl with some milk) and enjoy!
ohhh another recipe that looks sooooo good...

ReplyDeletewhat size of crockpot
ReplyDeleteI used a 6 quart for this recipe :)
DeleteHas anybody tried it? I am just wondering if it comes out mushy?
ReplyDeleteMine wasn't mushy, but I took mine out at 6 hours. If you wanted it to be firmer you could always check it around 5 hours and go from there :)

ReplyDeleteI loved the slow cooker apple Pie except the topping wasn't crunchy like in a regular oven. Isn't it suppose to be crunchy/crispy? Any suggestions.
The topping for this isn't supposed to be crispy; the moisture inside the slow cooker keeps it moist :)
DeleteHow many apples is 8 cups?
ReplyDeleteIt all depends on the size of your apples, however I would say around 8-10 apples :)
ReplyDeleteWhat is a good biscut baking mix?
ReplyDeleteBetty Crocker makes a good one :)
ReplyDeleteWhat size crock pot works best???
ReplyDeleteI used a 6 quart for this :)
DeleteOmg.....do I'm delish!!!! This is the second time I've made it tho im using granny smith apples this time around....had none leftover last time....
ReplyDeleteThis sounds fantastic! Thanks, can't wait to try it!!
ReplyDeleteI have this in the crock pot right now. Thanks for the recipe!
ReplyDeleteI have this in my crock pot right now. is it going to come out dry? How exactly do you tell if its done ? It's been 6hours now in the pot-I feel very much like a Magoo right now. Smells good
ReplyDeleteMine did not come out dry at all! You can tell if it's done by piercing a fork into one of the apples, if it's soft, then it's done :) When you serve it, put it in a bowl and add some milk to it...delicious!
DeleteIn the crockpot now.....can't wait...hubby loves apple anything...
ReplyDeleteThat looks absolutely delicious! And easy too! I must try this. I pinned it for later. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHow many servings does this make?
ReplyDeleteIt would all depend on the size, however we fed six people and had plenty ;)
DeleteThanks. Making this for 4th of July cookout - "All American As Apple Pie" - will probably double recipe!
ReplyDeleteI made this for the 4th of July - I bought individual vanilla ice cream cups & handed a bowl of the apple pie & one of the cups to everyone. They dumped the ice cream on the warm pie, it melted all over & was DELICIOUS! Very easy and anything made in a crockpot that saves time is even better. This is a keeper!
ReplyDeleteThank you Karen...I'm so happy you enjoyed it ;)
DeleteCan I make this with peaches?
ReplyDeleteI'm sure that would turn out delicious ;)
DeleteWhat if you don't have a biscuit mix? Do you know how much flour, baking powder, etc. to use instead? I really don't want to go to the store for 1 thing! thanks
