Scratch ingredients turned into a warm & delicious Hot Milk Cake!
Hot Milk Cake is quite the cake! This is actually the first time I've made one, but it won't be the last! I've heard of this cake before and have been wanting to try it out but never got around to it. Then I recently received the Gooseberry Patch Quick & Easy Christmas Cookbook and the recipe happened to be in there. So I got to work and I must say the end result is delicious! It's kind of a cross between a pound cake and a sponge cake. It's a quick and easy recipe that came together in no time at all. It bakes up beautifully and it doesn't even need a frosting...it's that good! I'll be featuring another recipe (or two) from this book then you'll have a chance to get one too. Just in time for the holidays!
Ingredients are as follows:
4 eggs
2 C sugar
2 1/4 C flour
2 1/4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/4 C milk
2/3 C butter
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees; grease a bundt pan.
Beat eggs until thick, about five minutes.
Add sugar and beat until fluffy.
Add flour, baking powder and vanilla. Mix until incorporated.
Heat milk & butter in a saucepan over medium heat; until butter melts.
By hand, slowly stir milk mixture into the batter; mix thoroughly.
Pour into prepared pan.
Bake for 35-40 minutes or until golden brown.
Allow to cool for ten minutes, remove from pan (sprinkle on some powdered sugar if desired).
Slice, serve and enjoy!
That cake is a family favorite! I'm so glad that you like it!
ReplyDeleteIt does look delicious! I think it's the first time I've actually seen it made. I have the book, too, and will definitely give it a try. My husband loves unadorned cakes. He would devour this. Plus, I know it's good because it came from Tina ;)
