Chocolate Fudge Pie

Last Saturday I featured the Gooseberry Patch Quick & Easy Christmas Cookbook.  I made the Hot Milk Cake, today I'm making the Chocolate Fudge Pie and this coming Saturday I'll be featuring another recipe too!  This cookbook is filled with so many wonderful recipes and I love the Christmas memories that go along with them too.

This chocolate fudge pie is different from any other pie I've had.  It has a nice chocolate flavor, it's somewhat dense, it has a silky smooth texture and it's not too sweet.  Plus I love that it uses ingredients that I always have on hand. It would be the perfect pie to take along for the holidays!

Ingredients are as follows:

5 T cocoa powder
1 C butter
4 eggs
1/2 C flour
2 C sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 8-inch pie crusts  (I wanted a thick pie so I only used one 9" crust)

Directions:

Melt butter; set aside.

Whisk eggs together.

Mix in cocoa and melted butter.

Add flour, sugar and vanilla.  Mix until combined.

Pour into prepared crust.

Bake at 35o degrees for 40-45 minutes or until center is set.
(if using two crusts it states to bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes.)

Slice, serve and enjoy!

  20. Made this. Used one pie crust and baked for 50 min. ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL! The crust was completely full and it made a beautiful pie. My husband(Mr. PICKY) ate it with ice cream and wants me to make it again. :)

  22. mine is currently in the oven and look and smells amazing! i've cooked it for 42 minutes and its far from being done so i'll have to see how much longer it will take in my oven.

  23. What kind of flour? All purp or self rising?

  24. I have two of these in the oven right now. I added pecans to one of them. I LOVE anything chocolate. I can't wait to try these.

  25. guess i need to learn to read all the comments. Just put mine in the oven, but i used self rising flour. I thought if a recipe needed plain flour it would say so. Guess this may turn into a mess

  26. Made this pie this evening. Mine came out thick like brownie batter.. it is no where near the consistency yours appears to be. It is still baking as I type this...I am hoping it turns out scrumptious!

  27. I would dearly love to "lighten" this up. What about using light butter and Splenda? I guess I could just serve little pieces.

    1. I think lighter butter would work, however I'm unsure about the Splenda since it's such a large amount.
