The Top *10* Recipes of 2016

Here's a list of the top 10 recipes from 2016!

#1
Creamy-Peanut-Butter-Fudge-made-in-the-microwave

Creamy Peanut Butter Fudge that's made in the microwave was the most viewed recipe in 2016 and I can see why.  This recipe is easy to make and it always turns out so creamy.  Even the novice chef can make Creamy Peanut Butter Fudge with confidence.

Sugar-Free Apple Walnut Coffee Cake

Sugar-Free-Apple-Walnut-Coffee-Cake

I make a lot of desserts doing this blog and I'm always interested in trying different ingredients; when SweetLeaf asked if I'd like to try their new SugarLeaf® I was happy to say yes!  SugarLeaf® is a sugar substitute made from stevia and cane sugar that is three times as sweet as sugar, however it has 2/3 fewer calories than sugar.   I like to bake with sugar substitutes, but it has to be a good one, and SugarLeaf® is just that!  It doesn't leave a bitter taste, it bakes up beautifully, and there is no aftertaste at all.

Sour Cream Bundt Coffee Cake & Kenwood Chef Kitchen Machine

Sour Cream Bundt Coffee Cake & Kenwood Chef Kitchen Machine

The holidays are approaching and I know every home cook would love to have a mixer!  Not just any mixer though, how about a Kenwood Chef Kitchen Machine?  This little mixer is amazing!  I used it for the past month and it has handled all of my recipes without a problem.

Blueberry Coffee Cake

Sweet blueberries whipped into a crumbly coffee cake that's topped off with a delicious glaze!

This cake is perfect for breakfast or dessert!  It's simple to make and you can find the ingredients in your pantry so you can whip this up anytime you'd like.  The sweetness of the blueberries goes perfectly with the tangy sour cream cake.  Drizzle on a vanilla glaze and it's the perfect match!

Strawberry Cream Cheese filled Coffee Cake

In my house we love cheese!  I can pretty much put cheese on top of anything and enjoy it!  I also love to use cream cheese in my desserts and I'm always coming up with new recipes to use it in.  Since I love coffee cakes I decided to try and fill one with flavored cream cheese.  The cake is moist and delicious while the center is rich and creamy.  The combination is a perfect match!

Strawberry Banana Sour Cream Breakfast Cake

coffee-cake-strawberries-dessert-brunch

On the weekends we like to have a nice breakfast, however I don't like spending hours in the kitchen preparing it.  I'm always trying to come up with quick, easy and delicious recipes.  This Strawberry Banana Sour Cream Breakfast Cake will definitely be my go-to recipe from now on.  The addition of sour cream makes the cake moist, and the combination of banana and strawberries is superb.  We enjoyed this cake so much I made it two days in a row!  This recipe is the perfect addition to breakfast or any meal...enjoy!

White Chocolate, Raspberry & Cream Cheese Coffee Cake

I've been wanting to make a dessert with white chocolate and raspberry for quite some time, but wasn't sure what to do.  I was going to make cupcakes, a cake, then muffins, but none of them were exactly what I wanted.  Then it finally hit me to make a coffee cake.  I love coffee cakes because you can add a combination of different flavors, they're easy to make, and they look pretty too!

Strawberry & Cream Cheese Coffee Cake Cupcakes

I have to admit...I love coffee cakes!  I wanted to make one the other day and my daughter also requested cupcakes.  Since I didn't want to make two different desserts, I decided to make Coffee Cake Cupcakes.  They came out wonderful!  I love that you can share this dessert and you don't have to worry about cutting it into individual servings.  These would make a wonderful addition to brunch, a tea party, or actually any occasion.  I can't wait to make these with different flavored preserves!

Scratch Cinnamon Roll Coffee Cake

Scratch Cinnamon Roll Coffee Cake

Lately I've seen quite a few recipes for cinnamon roll cake and honey bun cake.  I made one that was made from scratch and one that was made with a cake mix. They were good, however  I like cinnamon rolls to be on the dense side (you know, that gooey center) and that's the kind of cake I wanted to replicate.  So this cake is a little dense (that's why I called it a coffee cake),  it has great cinnamon roll flavor and the perfect icing to top it off!

Tasty (low-fat) Tiramisu

A few months ago I was talking to one of my readers named Kathleen.  We were talking about favorite desserts and she mentioned that she had a wonderful recipe for Tiramisu. It was different from the classic recipes because it didn't use Mascarpone cheese and it calls for all low-fat ingredients.  I asked if she'd be willing to share the recipe and she was more than happy to!  I've always wanted to make Tiramisu so this was the perfect recipe to try.  It uses every day ingredients and it's very easy to prepare.   It does call for Kahlua, but I didn't add it because my kids will be eating this too.  I also scaled down the coffee mixture because I forgot to cut my ladyfingers in half.  Even so, it turned out perfect!
It tastes delicious...thanks so much Kathleen!

Vanilla Peach Coffee Cake

I had the pleasure of reading  Gone with a Handsomer Man by Michael Lee West. It is her newest novel and I must say, it is wonderful! The main character is Teeny Templeton who loves to cook. When I saw Teeny's recipe for Vanilla Peach Pecan Coffee Cake I knew I had to try it. I did make some slight changes due to the ingredients I had on hand and I also made a vanilla icing to drizzle on top!
